Hands-On Learning - Science Inside and Out!

Are there any fun labs or activities that you have taught or been a part of over the years? In elementary school we all remember fun activities such as making the classic volcano with vinegar and baking soda, wave bottles, rockets, and much more... but what were all those fun, hands-on learning experiences? How do you combine them with your curriculum? Please share your knowledge here with me and the rest of the viewers!

  1. My most memorable science experience was with Mr. Gabriel at Sandstone Middle School. Mr. Gabriel was a hunting fanatic, and wanted to teach his students about how hunting controls the heard population. Although I am not necessarily in agreence with all of his ideas, it stood out as a memorable lesson. We went outside and he had one of us as a hunter, and some as deer, and we were supposed to see how hunting prevented a lot of deer for going hungry.

  2. Awesome! Again, I know that you didn't agree with his information completely but I'm glad that you had a science teacher that was able to "step outside the box" or the four walls of the classroom and give you all an activity to "hang" that information on.
